Made in USA Gloves and Bats by Akadema
Akadema brought American manufacturing home in August 2008. Something that few American companies are doing these days. With bringing American manufacturing home Akadema is creating jobs for American craftsmen. Why is this so unique? In 1950 the American baseball glove manufacturing industry had approximately 5,000 jobs in the USA but as of 2007 it has shrunk to less then 50.
New baseball factories have not been built in the United States by an established recognized brand in nearly 2 decades. Reasons for this decrease is all to familiar to the American worker. It includes the cost of wages, insurance, benefits, taxation and regulations. The obstacles increase the product cost over three times and make it impossible for companies to compete with foreign imports.
Why would Akadema build gloves in the USA in light of these issues? The Akadema ownership has a love of baseball and the USA. Akadema believes Americans should be able to make products which are loved and respected around the world. Our goal is to be the USA's largest domestic baseball manufacturer making the best quality product. This requires a willingness by Akadema to sacrifice the bottom line.
Akadema bats are already made by American Craftsmen who select the top USA grade "A" maple and ash. The bats are hand picked, cut, sanded and finished right here in the good ole' USA. Thanks for selecting American made Akadema bats and supporting American craftsmen.
We hope you will support Akadema and it's American initiative. All products, built here and abroad will help Akadema create more American jobs. Look for the new Patriot Series gloves!
